Abstract.
This paper presents the results of air pollution hazard assessment for 53 cities of Ukraine where Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center carries out the monitoring of air state. The questions are examined related to the emission of pollutants and the level of air pollution by priority substances that are controlled in these cities. A comparison of hazard assessment standards are given on the basis of Ukrainian and European legislation as well as the recommendations of the WHO. Generalization of the content level of the main pollutants in the ambient air of cities for 2012 is given. The trends and dynamics of air pollution according to different air pollution standards are analyzed. The estimation of the number of cases of dangerous air pollution is given based on the existing rules as well as the corresponding trends over the past 10 years are shown. The dependences for calculation of integrated air pollution index and pollution index which are recommended in the regulations for a generalized assessment of air pollution are analyzed. The results obtained can be used by environmental monitoring actors and nature protection organizations in the regions of Ukraine.
