LABORATORY RESEARCHES OF PROCESS OF THE DAM INWASH IN THE TAILING DUMP

Abstract.

A process of underwater inwash of dams in operational phases of waste storages was studied in lab with taking into account constrained conditions for the further extension of the dam embankment when a pond area critically approaches a zone of dry tailings. Laboratory equipment is described. Results of the laboratory studies conducted with various concentrations of solids are presented. Rational parameters were determined for the zone of dry tailings and pond area when simulating the underwater inwash process. It is stated that impurity of the man-made placer with clay, dusting and chalky particles in the operational phases of waste storing is insignificant andthe slope does not visually differ from the slope formed by surface inwash.
