Abstract.

Importance of radiation and chemical risk assessments used in different countries is analyzed. Possibilities of applying the methods of risk analysis are considered in context of making decisions on rehabilitation of areas affected by radioactive contamination (by natural radionuclides). It is recommended to use criteria for intervention for lands and properties with radioactive contamination with taking into account risks of population irradiation. Contaminated territories of the former "PChZ" Company was an example for analyzing currently used and future rehabilitation measures with zoning of the key objects. The article defines criteria for intervention and directions of rehabilitation of contaminated lands and buildings of the "PChZ" Company, and these criteria help to determine more accurately degree of the land decontamination and effectiveness of the taken measures.

Keywords:

risk; rehabilitation of contaminated areas; zoning; methodology of risk analysis.
