Abstract.

Important problems of industrial safety in mining enterprises are considered in context of protecting machines and operators against vibration and noise. Vibration is one of the main reasons of machine, equipment, building and structure destruction, it reduces their service life and reliability, disrupts their operation and technological process. Vibration and noise harmfully affect the human organism and physiological and psychological state of operators. Vibration pathology ranks the second (after dust) among the occupational diseases. The considered priority scientific directions on solving the problem of ensuring safety for the machines and structures are as follows: development of methods and criteria for assessing safety and risk; creation and development of methods for protecting crucially important facilities against the greatest man-caused accidents and disasters; development of multi-criteria approaches to the problem of security; development of methods and means for protecting maintenance personnel, machinery and equipment, buildings and structures against the effects of intensive vibration loads by using elastomeric elements. One of the directions of solving this problem is development of principles for choosing proper parameters for the vibration systems. Methods for assessing mining machine safety with taking into account risk of man-caused accidents are also considered. The criteria for the machine vibration safety are given in terms of two aspects: first, ensured effective vibration protection and, secondly, correspondent service life of a particular facility. Effectiveness of vibration protection is determined by the following principle: frequency of natural oscillations of the object should differ by 3-5 times from the frequency of the lower threshold of the frequency spectrum of the exciting forces: such rate is sufficient for preventing resonant phenomena. The second aspect of the vibration safety criterion directly relates to the machine and structure service life.
