Annotation.
One of the most widespread and dangerous types of underground emergencies is water or silting pulp inrush into the mine workings. By the traumatism of workers and material losses, they take the fifth place after explosions of gas and dust, exogenous fires, sudden gas outbursts and rocks fall. Inrush of water, clay, floating earths and silting pulp into the mine workings is accompanied by the roadway washing-out and falls of ground, harmful gas escaping into the workings, and mortality of objects vitally important for the mines (ventilators, water drainage pumps, transport vehicles, etc.). Mining operations in areas with risk of water inrush must be performed in accordance with the passports specifying measures on prevention of water inrush into the active workings. Uniting of water and silting pulp (clays) inrushes into one type of emergencies as it is adopted by a numerous normative documents is not justified because it is two different emergencies, which, though being somehow similar by their consequences, substantially differ by their behavior and methods of their liquidation. Determining and calculating risk of any emergencies including risk of water or pulp inrush into the mine workings is a live problem. But methods of their calculation differ because of different set of factors provoking their occurrence. A score method is proposed for estimating risk of water or pulp inrushes, which assumes subdivision of factors influencing on the danger of water or pulp inrush into workings into blocks and ranges depending on significance and importance of each factor for emergency development and for the factors gradation. With the help of the proposed method, it is possible to analyze risks of water or pulp inrush occurrence in the coal mines and to justify methods for their reduction. It is also possible to prevent a lot of undesirable consequences of emergency situations, for what it is necessary to arrange emergency protection more thoroughly and make and use plans of emergency liquidation on the basis of imitation modelling of emergency situations and measures for preventing emergency.
