Dear readers and colleagues,

     This year our Institute celebrates the 45th birthday. The date is modest though for us it is distinguished as biographies of a great number of our people are closely connected with the date.

      The IGTM under the NAS of Ukraine is one of the leading mining institutions of the National Academy of Science. Over various stretches of time a lot of well-known specialists worked in our Institute. Today it includes 20 structural divisions (departments and labs) that devote all their efforts and time to overcome different pressing challenges associated with: geotechnical mechanics; pneumatic transport systems; elastomer structures  for mining machinery; rock aerogasdynamics; explosion mechanics in the rocks; rock aerothermodynamics; designing of automated ventilation control system, development of safety system for mines and new practices of mineral opencast mining; rock mechanics; problems of rock failure; physical and mechanical principals of mining and rail transports; processing of mineral inputs; mineral mining at great depth; structural changes in rocks; dynamic rock-pressure control; facilities to prevent gasdynamic processes; creation of power complexes in mines; intensification of heat-mass exchange processes. We encourage ourselves to set very ambitious objectives because we know that we have good resources to put them in to life.

      Anniversary edition Issue number 100 of our journal of collected scientific papers is special for us. It is not our target to expound our scientific findings in full details in this jubilee edition – this is the prerogative of regular issues of our journal. We only want to tell our  colleagues about the achievements that we have attained in the course of our long history and attract them to cooperate with us in order to work together successfully for the benefit of the international scientific community.

      We will be pleased very much if you become interested in the published materials. You are welcome to contact us to get deeper knowledge about our researches.
