Abstract.

Object of this work is supporting of the gate roads by metal frame supports in the coal mines. Om the basis of analysis of methods and facilities used for gate-road supporting the purpose of the work was formulate: to analyze reasons of unsatisfactory work of and to work out recommendations for improvement of the arched metal-frame supports of the gate roads in general. It is shown that unsatisfactory operation of the metal-frame support is caused by its improper yielding. Functionality of the interlock grooved profile was estimated with the help of calculations. Comparative analysis of the metal-frame supports results in a conclusion that the open grooved profiles cannot be recommended to be used in the complex geological conditions. The conclusion is that for proper supporting the gate roads, it is necessary to apply combined methods, which are based on combination of metal-frame and anchor supports of the new generation and protective rib-side pack. Technical requirements are formulated for designing supports of the new generation.

Keywords:

gate road, arched yielding metal support, interlocks.
