Abstract.

The paper describes experience of the solid waste (SW) use as a source of high-energy gas that can find an application in various industries. Purpose of this study is to analyze prospects for producing methane from the landfills in Dnipropetrovs’k region.

Methane released from the landfills can be effectively used in production of automobile fuel, electric power and heat depending on the polygon location relatively to the particular economic infrastructure.

Practical suggestions on choosing and grounding types of landfill methane usage and technological schemes for its utilization can be used with good socio-economic effect in terms of the Dnipropetrovs’k region.

Keywords:

methane, landfill gas, regeneration, utilization, solid waste landfills, environmental safety.
