Abstract. The long-term coal mining caused the ecological disequilibrium and worsening of living conditions of coal mining regions residents. Environmental load caused by mines in the dif-ferent stages of operation is one of the most important factors to be considered while determining the ways of future development of coal industry in Ukraine.
The ecological risks emerging both on the stage of coal deposit mining and under the conditions of coal mining enterprises liquidation were identified. Each stage of operation was described from the point of view of factors of negative influence on the environmental components. The timely de-tection of ecological risks emerging under the conditions of 'wet' and 'dry' ways of mining enter-prises liquidation will allow the development and implementation of effective nature-conservative measures.
The identification of ecological risks on different stages of coal enterprise life-cycle allows formation on informational and cartographic database for management nature-conservative deci-sions.
Keywords: coal mine, mines liquidation, pollution, ecological risk.
