Abstract. It is for the first time when an idea (the Ukrainian patent №89965) of changing, by a predetermined algorithms, pressure in hydraulic cylinders of the mechanized longwall supports was used for controlling the rock pressure. The idea became a basis for designing a new method for modelling stationary and dynamic loads on the rocks in a gaseous medium in order to define changes of the rock physical and mechanical characteristics. It was found that the tensile strength of uniaxial compression of the Kirovohrad granite was increased in the gaseous medium to the level corresponding to the gas pressure on the sample side surface due to the granite weak permeability; however, after the granite being exposed to the cyclic compression in a gaseous environment the tensile strength approached a rate of testing uniaxial compression without gas saturation, i.e. the granite features the gas permeability. It is stated that a polynomial behaviour of the Kirovograd granite elastic modulus changing depends on the speed of the granite mechanical loading.
Keywords: Keywords: granite, stationary load, dynamic load, tensile strength, modulus of elasticity.
