ESTIMATION OF PARTICULAR FREE-METHANE FILTRATION IN STRUCTURALLY HETEROGENEOUS COAL SEAMS

Abstract. Distribution of free-gas pressure in structurally inhomogeneous coal seam in zone with bearing pressure was analyzed at unsteady isothermal process. The well-known Yu.P.Zheltov’s model of unsteady isothermal filtration was used, which was created by the G.I. Barenblatt’s method of integral relations for uniform coal seam in a uniform stress field with constant gas pressure in the bottom-hole and seam and constant porosity of and constant gas permeability in the coal seam. In this study, gas permeability in a zonally inhomogeneous medium was calculated by the K.S. Basniev’s method, and with the help of this method, it is possible to determine average characteristics of the coal-layer structural heterogeneity, namely, gas permeability of the medium, and to apply the well-known Yu.P. Zheltov’s model in order to calculate the pressure distribution. In this article, an algorithm is proposed for calculating structural inhomogeneous medium, including geologically disturbed medium, which allows determining distribution of gas pressure depending on distance from the face of the tunnel, filtration time and speed of gas filtration in zone with bearing pressure
