Abstract. Destruction of elastomeric elements in the screen sieves used in the mining industry was studied with the help of modified finite element method - a torque scheme of finite element for weakly compressible material - which helps obtaining an adequate technical solution for elastomers.
The article presents an iterative approach to determining the stress-strain state of elastomeric structures under the linear elastic and viscoelastic deformation and geometrically nonlinear elastic and viscoelastic deformation. The string-ribbon stress-strain state was determained by availability of fractures in their structure. Distribution of fracture mechanics parameters, such as rate of the fracture opening and rate of the J-integral, along the fracture front was specified with taking into account nonlinear deformation. The obtained results help predicting much more accurately working life of the sieve elastomeric elements and, consequently, improving the screen reliability, screening efficiency and sieving quality.
Keywords: elastomeric elements of the screen sieve, stress-strain state, nonlinear deformation, fracture, distribution of fracture parameters, working life, screening efficiency and sieving quality.
