Abstract. The authors formulate a problem of determination of extreme values for the contact loadings in the "cage - rigid shaft equipment " system in the vertical shafts of the coal mines, and propose the way of this problem solving. Mathematical model of dynamic interaction between the cage and unilateral or bilateral rail guides in the main frontal plane of the shaft equipment is validated. Extreme states, which lead to the most intensive dynamic loads on the system guides, were determined. The formulas are presented, which link extreme values of the edge-runner horizontal accelerations, measured by specialized equipment, to maximum values of the contact loads depending on inertial and geometrical parameters of the cage and shaft equipment. These formulas can beused for dynamic rapid monitoring of the "cage-shaft equipment" systems.
