Abstract. Abstract. Issues concerning ways of improvement of reliability of point-switch electric drive operation are considered. Purpose of the research was to develop initial technical requirements for creation of the point-switch electric drive, which would improve level of the train safety. In the paper, results of the study of point-switch electric drives with increased capacity are presented. The study was focused on changing method of point-switch kinematic adjacency in their extreme operating positions and eliminating dynamic interaction between the point-switch elements and pulling devices in the electric drive units during their operation. The proposed initial technical requirements were tested in the existing industrial enterprises of the Kryvyi Rih ore mining basin (Ukraine) and the Hayskyi mining processing plant (Russia). The developed scientific and technological requirements for the point-switch electric drives allow increasing reliability and safety of the rail-transport operation in the mining enterprises by 1.5-2.0 times.
