Abstract. The aim of the work is to summarize the current trends in the development of filter camshafts designs to provide a high level of protection for workers. It is determined that the main indicators of half masks, on which their effectiveness depends is the reliable isolation of respiratory organs, high-quality air purification and the timely use of semimasks. It is established that the main reasons for the deterioration of their protective properties are leakages along the band of obturator and a low duration of the protective action of the filters. It is proposed that the construction of composite elements of filter respirators, which will increase the degree of protection of workers. The use of an inflatable obturator, disc valves 0.4 mm thick, a continuous headband band as a whole will reduce the half-mask penetration rate to 80%. An increase in the duration of protective action of respirators up to 60% is possible due to the use of prefilter prefilter. The information provided will be useful in making decisions about choosing an effective respirator.
