Abstract. When calculating parameters for the system of field development, maximum permissible span of the chamber roof and dimensions of stable pillars left in the productive stratum are determined. It is shown that safe condition of preparatory roadways in complex mining-andgeological conditions of the coal seam mining is provided by choosing an optimal width of the pillar. Various methods for calculating parameters of the systems for the non-ore, ore and coal deposit mining have been analyzed, and it is stated that at present, change of the parameters is not taken into account for the conditions of winning operation intensification. On the basis of the analysis of existing works and own experimental and theoretical studies, the authors have obtained an equation, which describes change of the rock strength properties under loading at the given rate, as well as change of the massif strength properties at increasing rate of the winning operation advancing. It is also proposed to take into consideration a time factor by way of analyzing the rock rheological properties.
Keywords: parameters of the pillars, intensification of winning operations, strength of rocks.
