Abstract:
History of creation and development of the Department of Geology of Coal Beds at Great Depths is presented from the year of its foundation in 1961. The Department started with forecasting mining and geological conditions for the coal deposit development and risks of the rock and coal outbursts and later proceeded to studying geological conditions for creation of natural and man-caused methane accumulation in the coal strata.
