Abstract.
Impact of coal mining operations on physical properties of sandstones are studied by way of comparison of volume density, solid phase density and apparent porosity of the core samples taken from geological prospecting holes and mine workings. It is stated that the sandstone volume density and coefficient of the apparent porosity in zones with mining operations substantially differ from these factors in virgin massif. It is shown, that such volume decompaction caused by crack formation results in 1.2-1.4 increase of sandstone open porosity.
