Abstract. Open pit mining operations cause formation of air pollutants in large amount. Therefore, pollution control and rate norms set for pollutants from various sources (drilling and blasting operations, dumping, dusting of slime storage, etc.) is an urgent task of all mining enterprises.

Methods used for determining quantity of harmful substances escaped into atmosphere in the process of  open mining are analyzed. A classification of processes in quarries is proposed with taking into account intensity, regularity and stationarity of emission sources and their spatial characteristics. A method for computing averaged ground-level concentrations of pollutants which are released during the key processes of open pit mining was improved. An algorithm for multifactor modeling and prediction of air state on the territory of mining and processing plants was designed.

Keywords: open pit mining, pollution, dispersion modeling.
