REGULARITY OF SEDIMENTARY ROCK COMPRESSION

Abstract.
Object of the researches is sedimentary rocks. The results presented were obtained by the author in process of sampling cores from mining holes and tunnels of Donetsk mines, and were found in different literary sources. To get new information on regularity of the rock compression in different stages of lithogenesis. Results show that taking into account value only gravitation pressure is obviously insufficient for more complete description of the rock properties. It should be added by compression medium (wet or dry), structure of matter, size of fragmental corns, and stage of lithification. In each stage of the rock transformation a process of compression can be developed differently. Depth of diagenesis stage makes tens, hundreds and thousands meters. In some areas loose deposits can be found at the depth of 2-3 km. The Donbass argillites containing coals of Carboniferous period, feature density 1,7-2,2 g/cm3 in the stage of early katagenesis, mainly 2,2-2,6 g/cm3 in the stage of middle katagenesis, and 2,6-3,0 g/cm3 in the stage of late katagenesis. These figures are just averaged information, however, this argillites are typical, and their properties for Donbass deposits were determined in large scale. The findings on different territories well illustrate the maximally quick compression of carbonate rocks and minimum compression of sandstones and aleurolits. Argillites, by degree of the compressions, are approximately on a middle. Porosity in the stages of diagenesis and katagenesis diminishes by 1,5-2 relatively to determined cyclic regularity. The findings indicates in which stages of lithogenesis and which organic minerals can be formed and be available in case of friendly environment.
