Abstract.

The article presents results of research on improving mining safety when gas-saturated rocks are broken by operating members of mining and tunneling machines. Fields of effective use of methods and means for preventing explosions of dust-methane-air mixtures are defined.

A mathematical model of formal description of heat transferring to the surrounding methane-air environment by hot surface was developed and theoretically substantiated.

Dependences were established to determine amount of heat accumulation and transfer to the surrounding methane-air environment by surface of interacting cutting tools with gas-saturated rocks, and to calculate duration of the heat transfer from combustible mixture with taking into account induction properties of the methane-air environment.

Keywords:

gas-saturated rock, heat exchange, methane, cutter.
