Abstract.

Objective of the work is to study possibility to use high-angle conveyors as part of cyclical-and-continuous technology in the deep quarries of Krivbass.

The article formulates basic problems of iron ore surface mining in Krivoy Rog associated with the rock transportation. It is stated that the most rational solution of these problems is to use cyclical-and-continuous technology with high-angle conveyors in the districts listed in the article. Basic designs of high-angle conveyors suitable for transporting abrasive rocks are analyzed. Experience of using conveyors in the mining industry is reviewed. Engineering and designing developments of high-angle conveyors for transporting highly abrasive lumpy iron ore are considered.

Analysis of existing and new high-angle conveyors showed that only conveyors with pressure deeply-grooved belt and retaining elements, of elevator-type with bucket can be used in Krivbass quarries. According to the findings, high-angel conveyors with pressure belt are known best of all, and deeply-grooved belts are the most promising.
