Abstract.
The article presents results of the study of gas inclusions in the quartz sandstone grains. In order to study the paleodepth effecting the inclusion conversion, the microsections were used which were represented by sandstones of Carboniferous age selected in the areas of the D, G, F and A coal grade extent. The microsections were examined by an optical microscope at a magnification by 100 - 1200 times.
The study of gas inclusions in the quartz grains of the sandstones was focused on the early and late stages of their conversion (sandstones, which enclosed coals of the D and A grades). It makes possible to add the existing data and give a complete characterization of the paleodepth impacting on theinclusion conversion.
As a result, a conclusion has been made that, with the sandstonesbeing at the paleodepth, a form of inclusions is transformed, their size is reduced, and pressure in the inclusions is stabilized to the level which corresponds to the conditions in which the rocks are at the moment of the inclusion transformations.
The study presents practical interest because the gas inclusions may be an indicator of the rock transformation and can partially give an answer on changed gas content in the sandstone close porosity in case of increasing temperature and pressure in the rock mass.
Key words:
paleodepth, gas inclusions, microfractures, strips of Boehm.
