Abstract. The article focused on the development of new approaches in the study of the molec-ular structure of coal.

The approach is based on the calculation of the coefficient of coal substance aromaticity with three parallel independent physical methods: the method of nuclear magnetic resonance in the car-bon isotope 13C, electron spin resonance of paramagnetic centers and infrared spectroscopy stretch-ing vibrations of hydrogen atoms in the structure of coals of different metamorphic grade.

Cross-analysis of the data showed that the changes in the molecular structure of coal substance caused by global carbonization processes. All three of the structural method, directly or indirectly, share the carbon in the conjugated system (sp2-hybridization) of carbon sp3-hybridization. Inde-pendent physical studies have shown that under the influence of geodynamic factors (pressure and temperature), changes in the molecular structure of the carbon material go in the same direction.

Keywords: мolecular structure, aromatic, carbonization, physical methods.
