Abstract. With deepening of the pits, an issue of expediency of further development of the fields by surface mining becomes questionable. In the article, proposals concerning transition to the surface-underground and further to the un-derground mining in the SevMPP Annovskiy quarry are considered. A gradual transition from open pit to the surface-underground and, afterwards, to the under-ground method of mining is proposed for the deposit. The proposed specific technology assumes: stage-by-stage development of the horizons; use of goafs, while proceeding to the next stages of the quarry development, for the ore pre-dressing in the deep horizons and creation of internal dumps; and use of the goafs and infrastructure of the quarry for transportation operations. Viability of the proposed technology is ensured by use of new methods for transporting the mined rocks to the surface (the method is protected by Ukrainian patent).
Implementation of the proposed technologies will make possible to continue the iron ore min-ing at the deeper levels, cut capital expenditures, reduce areas with disturbed land, and, simultane-ously with the mining operations deepening, reclamate the unused plots of the mined-out areas in the quarry.
Keywords: surface-underground mining, conveyor train, pre-dressing, internal dumps, belt conveyor.
