INVESTIGATION OF ECOLOGICALLY HAZARDOUS IRREVERSIBLE SUBSIDENCE OVER SALT MINES

Abstract. Essential peculiarities of ground behavior have been found due to subsidence inves-tigation over abandoned salt mines. Waste water leakage through contact of the ore body and cov-ered rocks caused argillite softening and sliding of the rock clusters one relatively another. As a re-sult, cluster mosaic evolves due to shift from coordinated movement to controversial and vice versa. This behavior promotes chimney subsidence as the consequence of such events: collapse of contact between ore body and covered rock mass, separation of the rock mass into clusters that move in dif-ferent directions, uncoordinated movement of these clusters, origination and development of chim-ney subsidence. Size of the chimney is 50 m and more in diameter and its development is unstable and hard to control. Such process is catastrophic and exposes surface buildings and structures to danger.
