Abstract. Basic data concerning solid fuel as well as the most promising and potentially source of hydrocarbon material - coalmine methane and the reasons of its limited application in Ukraine are given.
Problems of methane extraction within coal deposits by the wells drilled from the surface, con-ditions of methane migration to the wells – disturbance of sorption equilibrium and increase of permeability of coal massif taking into account rock shifting due to coal seam mining, modern methods of influencing on coal seams and gas-saturated rocks, conditions of the place of degassing wells location at the mine named after A.F.Zasyadko, their construction and face location as for the area of complete unloading against rock pressure are considered. The reasons of unsatisfactory op-eration of separate degassing wells are determined.
Analysis of mining and geological conditions of well drilling is performed. Areas of local and complete rock shifting as well as maximal methane emission from underworked coal seams and rocks are determined.
