Abstract. This article discusses the magnetic properties of the carbon material as an indicator of its energy state.

Assessing the impact on the magnetic signal of coal mechanical pressure, direct and alternating electric field, as well as DC and AC voltage. The studies were conducted in three phases over one and a half years.

The methods of magnetometry shows that changes in the magnetic properties of carbon associ-ated with the structural transformation of matter at the molecular level. The growth of the magnetic signal caused by the accumulation, under the influence of external energy in the atomic and molecu-lar structure of coal. Efficiency is determined not so much by the intensity of external influence but energy type, as well as features of the molecular structure of carbonized organic matter. Reduction of the magnetic signal of coal samples in time indicates substance relaxation gained under the influ-ence of external energy potential.
