Abstract. Determinations of the concepts related to ecological safety of functioning of coal mines are resulted. Classification of sources of the troop landings of methane in an atmosphere from coal mines is offered, differentiated taking into account stationary (related to the technological processes of booty, transporting and warehousing of coal and subsequent methane-apportionment from the produced space of lava), related to utilization of drainaging methane and unstationary (as a result of the troop landings of methane at an emergency situation) factors. Tasks on the management by ecological safety of functioning of re-configurated ventilation networks of methane-bearing capacity coal mines are formulated. A complex criterion and methods of management by ecological safety of coal mines on a methane factor is developed. The list of technical measures on the management by the ecological risks is offered, to the increase of ecological safety of coal mining production.
