Abstract. Development and design of percussion machines require precise calculation of their moving parts, such as: elements of valves, locking sleeve, strikers, etc. Existing methods of calculation cannot fully solve a problem of the machine colliding parts. This article provides a solution of the problem of colliding bodies, in which equations of the body motion dynamics and equations of distance passed by the bodies form a system of equations with taking into account deformation of the colliding parts. Solving of this system of equations makes possible to determine not only current forces of the body speed and acceleration, but also duration of interaction between the colliding bodies and rate of their deformation. This method of determining parameters for the colliding bodies can be used for a wide range of applications where interaction between the bodies occurs in areas with elastic deformation.
Keywords: locking sleeve, striker rod, downhole hammer, motion equation, colliding parts.
