METHOD AND TECHNICAL MEANS FOR PREVENTING COAL-AND-GAS OUTBURST DURING DEVELOPMENT OF PREPARATORY ROADWAYS IN THE GAS-BEARING COAL SEAMS

Abstract.The article describes method and technical means for preventing coal- and gas-outbursts during development of preparatory roadways in the gas-bearing prone-to-outburst coal seams. The method employs an idea of boring the advancing discharging wells (ADW) in the coal mass in the plane, which is perpendicular to the vector of total forces (parallel to each other) of rock pressure; the wells, with diameter not exceeding 50 mm and length which exceeds the depth of high rock pressure, are drilled from wall to wall of the roadway at a distance from one another, which depends on diameter of the ADW, depth of the coal seam and physical and chemical properties of the coal mass. Further the article describes an integrated tunneling system (ITS), which is used for in-seam development of preparatory roadways in the gas-bearing prone-to-outburst coal seams, and which includes a tunneling machine and telescopic boom with removable borer, which is able to bore parallel ADWs with diameter of 50 mm and length of at least 25 m. The ITS also includes high-pressure hydroelectric power plant of the УНІ-01 type with cavitation generator for high-pressure pumping of fluid into the coal seam in order to initiate a process of cavitation vibration in the face area of the coal seam and, consequently, prevent coal and gas outbursts.
