Abstract. On the basis of theoretical, laboratory and field studies, an important problem of im-proving the underground tunnel stability was solved by way of strengthening the marginal rock massif. The adopted mathematical models and methods of analytical studies provide an opportunity to determine common tendency of behavior of reinforced carrying rock-concrete formations. The determined main tendencies and specific changes of stress field and deformations of the tunnel rein-forced-rock contour caused by еру rock pressure made possible to develop a methodology for creat-ing and studying parameters of the rock reinforced casings. Correctness of this approach is con-firmed by results of instrumental observations in laboratory and mine conditions. Economic effi-ciency is mainly achieved through the reduced metal content in stationary supports.
