Abstract. Subject of the research was change of the pillar safety factor in the non-metallic deposits. Objective of the research was to analyze influence of mining and geological conditions and parameters of the pillars on their safety factor. As a result of the studies, it was established that with increased height of the pillar and depth of its bedding, there is a tendency to the safety factor reduce, and increase of the pillar length leads to increase of the safety factor. With increase of the pillar service life, no significant changes of the safety factor were observed. At the fixed minimum safety factor n = 3, which is normally accepted for the gypsum deposits, and at increased depth of the gypsum strata occurrence, width of the pillar should be increased substantially, and with increased duration of the deposit exploitation at the fixed length of the pillar, its width at the same depth should not be increased so rapidly. For all depths, increased rate of winning operations leads to increase of the safety factor. In this case, probability of the pillar failure decreases.

Keywords: deposits of gypsum, chamber-and-pillar mining, geological conditions, parameters of the pillars, safety factor.
