Abstract. Trends of using thickening and storage technologies for washery refuse in the form of slurries with a volume concentration of 40% was analyzed. It is shown that world experience of using these technologies does not take into account specificity of washery-refuse storage at Ukrainian mining and processing plants. The result is that introduction of the technology under consideration without adequate adaptation requires considerable capital expenditure. Promising schemes are proposed for storing washery refuses in the existing storage facilities with taking into account domestic specificity, which assume thickening of slurry at various stages and use of separator with divider in the main pipeline for separating particles from the man-made placer. It is the first method, which is developed for selecting and justifying parameters for the device with divider of flow into two streams for separating man-made placer from the slurry during its pressure flowing through the pipeline.
Keywords: hydrotransport, centrifugal pump, slurry, high concentration.
