Abstract.
The article defines main structural elements for modern respirators, which affect degree of protection of workers.
It is established that design of the half-mask obturator provides the greatest influence on the effectiveness of filtering means of individual protection.
It was determined that the worst coefficient of unfiltered air penetration to the space under the mask of respirators was recorded when head turned, due to the formation of additional gaps between the obturator and the face.
The solve the problem, it is proposed to use modern materials for half-masks and exhalation valves, calculate the obturator geometry in accordance with anthropometric characteristics of the face and to design fast-put horns.
Keywords:filter half masks, face size, isolation factor, coefficient of protection, RPE.
