Abstract:

Stages of the Department team formation and results of their work from 1961 till 2012 are presented. The Department started with mechanics of the rock breaking including thermal and combined (thermal-and-mechanical) practices. Later, the Department extended field of its activity by designing and creation of thermodrills and development of practices to break the rocks by machines of impact action.
