Abstract.

Key methods of coal breaking, which can be used for preparing structured suspensions are considered including mechanical method of breaking lumps and particles of minerals and other materials with the help of crushers and mills. This method is the most extensively applied, however, it requires great energy consumption. Methods which consume less energy and, therefore, are more effective are electrohydroimpulsive and hydroimpulsive breaking which break solid materials by shock waves generated by hydraulic shock.  In addition, when coal is conveyed by hydrotransport a spontaneous and natural coal breakage is occurred in the coal-insuckers and pipelines. Of particular interest is to use the coal destruction in the hydrotransport for getting coal with the required rate of fragmentation. It is possible to calculate parameters for the hydrotransports at which an output can be obtained with a polydisperse medium containing coal particles of the required size. To this end, and under the conditions considered, it is necessary to know size and concentration of particles transported to the entrance into the hydro-system. Ultimately, it is possible to calculate concentration of the polydisperse medium which can ensure not only delivery of the desired amount of coal but also its breakage to the desired degree of fragmentation. Determining the required volume concentration of the slurry under the considered conditions allows to link together amount of the coal transported and degree of the coal particles crushing in the coal insuckers and transporting pipelines. Thus, the hydraulic system, additionally to the function of the coal transporting, can also overcome a problem of transported particles soaking and disintegration with the desired degree of breakage which ensures further creation of the structured suspensions.
