PROCESSING OF LUMPY ROCK MASS IN THE IRON ORE QUARRIES

Abstract. Key findings of specialists from different institutes and organizations dealing with the problems of rock lump processing in the iron ore quarries are presented including theoretical, analytical and experimental work carried out in the IGTM. Iron ore mining and enrichment enterprises from Ukraine and the CIS are analyzed for possibility to apply dry magnetic separation in their quarries and at their enrichment plants. A standard technological scheme was developed for pre-enrichment of the lump rock mass in the quarry. Ore and overburden freight traffics were established, and such traffics are recommended to be laid to the lump separation complex. Ukrainian, Russian, Swiss and China manufacturers of electromagnetic separators for the rock mass of 450 (350) - 0 mm size are analyzed.
