Abstract.
Effect of geological factors on the coal-rock mass degassing was studied. Key task of the study was to detect zones with methane accumulation for further their degassing. With the help of various geological factors used for predicting zones with methane it is possible to consider a coal-rock mass with active mining operations as a complex system which is formed by geological, geomechanical and geodynamic processes and to properly adjust degassing operations. In order to choose geological factors and determine their effect on the degassing the studies were conducted in the M.I. Kalinin Mine which included analysis, making of prognosis maps of methane accumulation zones and comparison with actual data on degassing. Results obtained have confirmed correctness of the approach for solving the problems and its good correlation between the studied parameters.
Keywords: methane, geological factors, the coal seam, fracture, collectors.
