HOW THE RIB-SIDE TRACK RIGIDITY IMPACTS ON THE GATE CONTOUR CONVERGENCE AND ECLOSING ROCK STATE

Abstract.

Dependences between displacement of the gate contour, deformation of enclosing rocks and rigidity of the rib-side track were studied at all stages of the tunnel running: before winning operations impacting, in zones with bearing pressure ahead of the longwall and in zones with intensive and steady-state displacements behind the longwall. The findings showed high effectiveness of the rigid tracks, and it was proved that a belt entry with combined (concrete packed track plus bolt-and-arch support) supports could be reused as an air roadway when mining an adjoining panel. In order to escape bottom ripping, it is recommended to apply a double track where the first, nearest to the entry, row consists of the formed chocks (i.e. yielding track), and the second row is a rigid concrete track.
