Abstract:
The Western Donetsk Basin refers to one of the most complicated regions by its geological conditions. Due to the water intrusion the enclosing rocks get soaked, tunnel contour loose its stability, and edge rocks fall. Therefore, it is important to accurately forecast water inflow into the tunnel under the concrete hydrogeological conditions in order to undertake effective measures to prevent emergency water inflows.
Changes in the stress fields, permeability and moisture around the tunnels with the frame and roof bolting under different hydrogeological conditions were studied by method of computer simulation. The calculated values of water inflow into the tunnels with the frame and roof bolting have been confirmed by underground observations. It is stated that the roof bolting suppresses further fracturing, hereupon the dimensions of the filtration domain decreases around the tunnel, and water inflow in the opening reduces. In some cases, when watered rock layers are at a sufficient distance from the tunnel contour, water inflow into the tunnel can be prevented almost completely. Therefore, the roof bolting can be used as a technological means for reducing water inflow into the mine tunnels.
Keywords: water inflow into the tunnel, numerical calculation methods, roof bolting.
