Abstract. Purpose of the research is to study influence of initial shear stress of highlyconcentrated slurry on the parameters of discharge-head characteristics of centrifugal pumps in hydrotransport complexes of ore-dressing and processing enterprises depending on other rheological properties and concentration of the suspension, as well as characteristics of particles of the solid phase. It is for the first time when existence of critical rate of impeller rotation speed in the centrifugal pump is determined, below which the pump, while rotating, will be unable to pump highly-concentrated slurries, which refer to the Bingham-Shvedov fluids. Dependence is determined between this critical rotation frequency and impeller diameter, rheological properties and concentration of the slurry, as well as density of the particles of the slurry solid phase. It is shown that, at certain ratio between rheological characteristics of slurry and Archimedes parameter of solid fraction particles, dependence of this rotation frequency on the concentration of the slurry is an extreme factor. It is proved that within intervals of variation of centrifugal pump parameters in hydrotransport complexes, which are characteristic for domestic ore-dressing and processing enterprises, the extremum under consideration is a minimum.
Keywords: hydrotransport, centrifugal pump, slurry, high concentration.
