Abstract. Compressor plants are sources of increased noise as a harmful production factor. For several years Ukraine has maintained a high level of occupational morbidity, in particular diseases of the hearing organs. The existing method of noise reduction due to the use of sound-absorbing coating of premises as a rule does not give the maximum effect. To reduce the noise caused by the operation of compressor units, an improved method for calculating sound-absorbing coatings of industrial premises is proposed. The method allows optimizing sound-absorbing coatings by minimizing noise levels or their cost taking into account the spectral characteristics of noise and sound-absorbing materials. The method is based on the Monte Carlo random search characterized by algorithmic simplicity and that of computer implementation. The results of computer simulation indicate the possibility of achieving a global optimum in real production conditions. The introduction of the proposed method will reduce noise in the area of a reflected sound and thereby increase safety in the workplaces.
