Abstract.
The main geological processes occurring at different stages and substages of lithogenesis аre described in this article. Consideration of the properties and conditions of rocks at mining enterprises is an actual scientific and applied problem. Currently, there are three main stages of lithogenesis - sedimentogenesis, diagenesis and catagenesis. In each of the stages of lithogenesis, only its inherent geological processes occur. Information about to which stage of lithogenesis the bedding, where mining operations take place, refer allows predicting properties of rocks. The properties of rocks needed to be known in order to choose optimal schemes for mining operations. Mining works in each mining workings have their own specificity. The safety and efficiency of the mining enterprise depends on the correct prediction of geological processes. The stage of sedimentogenesis is characterized by such geological processes as rock fall, landslides, suffusion, floods, watering, etc. For the stage of diagenesis, the typical are erosion, sinkhole, subsidence, flooding, gas explosions, karst formation, etc. Dynamic and gas-dynamic phenomena in mines are characteristic of all three substages of catagenesis. The early substage of catagenesis is characterized by gas explosions, collapse of a false roof, extrusion of rocks, gas blower, flow rock, etc. The middle substage of catagenesis is characterized by gas explosions, outbursts of coal, rock and gas, rock bumps, rock falls, rock slips, false roof falls, rock-pressing out, gas blowers, rock falls etc. The late substage of catagenesis is characterized by such dynamic and gas-dynamic phenomena as gas explosions, coal and gas outbursts, rock falls, gas blowers, induced earthquakes, etc.
The rocks of each stage and substage of lithogenesis are characterized by strength, reservoir properties, humidity, gas content, etc. Systems of off supporting, roadway mining, airing and a number of other parameters depend on the properties of rocks and processes occurring in them. Construction, mining and supporting systems, systems of gas drainage and other parameters should be predicted with taking into account the properties of minerals and host rocks.
Key words: lithogenesis stages, geological processes, sedimentogenesis, diagenesis, catagenesis.
